Sisters,
these are uncertain time all over the globe. People are more in need to support, sisterhood, a space to share their feelings and emotions.
It’s being 4 weeks now, that most of us are in our homes and holding space for our communities, and countries.
Over the last few weeks, I have been reached out by many coaches, and healers, on what they should be doing, focusing on with their clients so that they can support them in these challenging times.
As we navigate these unique and challenging times in our history there are certain areas you can focus on with your clients:
1. Ask
This is the practice that is needed more than ever before. Ask your clients what do they need right now. How you can help and support them. When the practice of asking happens, it opens the door for your client to share their needs.
2. Set New Goals
During these times, when there is so much happening in the world, people tend to lose their focus, and that is when they really really need a coach. The need not just someone but a coach who knows how to keep them focused, encouraged and in faith.
The one thing I am doing with my clients is to encourage them to set up new goals. It is important so that they can reaffirm, re-establish their vision. It is the time to go through on their why’s, their purpose of doing what they are doing, and letting them re-visit the vision they have established when they first started.
Your clients may be feeling a little disheartened at the moment. Perhaps the goals they had set for themselves and were so enthusiastic about having lost a little meaning.
Perhaps they are not making the progress, that they want to make or they see our current situation as an insurmountable obstacle between them and the achievement of their goals.
As a coach, it’s important that you use a really robust goal-setting process, like the one we share at the She Rise Academy to reignite their passion and their vision.
Along in your coaching, when you help them get clear on what they want, you will realize that in these challenging times, you as a coach need to re-frame their goals. You might need to re-assess and adjust the process and the tactics to keep your clients on track.
3. Hold Space
In these times of turmoil and crisis, coaches need to show the presence that deeply supports the well-being of people and communities.
Your clients need you more than ever, they need you to hold space for them so that they can share their fears, their feelings and emotions. More than ever, they need you to listen to them.
Now more than ever are people needed who themselves are deeply grounded and connected to a source of higher intelligence, and who desire to use their energy and inner being to support others through crisis or upheaval. Just like we train our coaches in She Rise Academy so that they know and understand the deeper meaning of holding space.
4. Inner and Outer Blocks/Healing
I have learnt one thing during my early years of coaching practice that behavioural coaching is not enough for a deep transformation.
To be transformed needs a breakthrough, and breakthrough happens when we work with our clients on a much deeper level. It includes the work Mind, Body, Soul and Spirit.
In these times, there are lots of emotions, feelings, that might be a reason to hold them back from the success they desire.
Now more than ever is the right time for your clients to be taking key, strategic action towards their goals. To help them to do that you’ll want to help them to identify and then get rid of any of those self-sabotaging beliefs, habits or strategies.
That is why you need healing tools in your coaching toolkit. You can use any healing skills you might have, to help your clients.
By reframing and removing negative emotions, limiting decisions and limiting beliefs you’ll be helping your clients to actually clear the baggage of the past and to create and forge new habits and behaviours that will support them now and in the future.
Help your clients, to understand the new way of thinking, and feelings, you are helping them move forward.
5. Support and Accountability
If you are a coach who believes in the power of accountability, now is the time to Step up in your role as an accountability partner.
You might need to adjust the work you give to your clients, in between the calls, as now the daily routine for them might have changed.
One thing I do not take for granted is accountability.
Now is also the time that you need to be giving your clients that higher level of support, knowledge and accountability so that they resist the temptation to fall off track or to throw in the towel. There might be times when your client might feel disempowered, discouraged, and if you keep your accountability game up, I can assure that this will help them, to keep on track and overcome any roadblocks.
